Trelanip 50 Tablet contains Trelagliptin 50mg, a long-acting oral antidiabetic agent from the Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class. It works by enhancing the activity of incretin hormones, which leads to an increase in insulin secretion and a decrease in glucagon release, especially after meals. This helps in lowering blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Trelagliptin stands out from other DPP-4 inhibitors due to its once-weekly dosing, offering convenience and better adherence to therapy. It generally has a neutral effect on body weight and carries a low risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy.

About the Product

Commonly reported side effects include nasopharyngitis, headache, upper respiratory tract infections, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort. While rare, hypoglycemia may occur, particularly when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues like sulfonylureas. Occasional allergic skin reactions such as rashes have also been reported.

Trelanip 50 is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise. It can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones when monotherapy does not provide adequate glycemic control.

Trelanip 50 should be used only under the supervision of a healthcare professional, especially in patients with moderate to severe renal or hepatic impairment. It is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Blood glucose levels should be monitored regularly during treatment.
