Merotyle 125 Injection contains Meropenem (125mg), a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic used to treat a wide range of serious bacterial infections, including those caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Meropenem works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, making it highly effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including anaerobes. It is often used in hospitals for life-threatening or complicated infections.
It helps in the treatment of serious infections such as lower respiratory tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, bacterial meningitis, and septicemia, particularly in critically ill or hospitalized patients.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, rash, or pain at the injection site. Rare but serious reactions include seizures (especially in patients with kidney problems), allergic reactions, or changes in liver/kidney function.
Prescribed for moderate to severe infections like pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, meningitis, and bloodstream infections. Also used when resistance to other antibiotics is suspected.
To be administered only under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Inform your doctor if you have a history of seizures, kidney issues, or allergies to beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems). Complete the full course as prescribed to avoid resistance.
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture. Once reconstituted, the solution should be used immediately or as directed by a healthcare provider. Keep out of reach of children.
