Ertasil Injection contains Ertapenem (1gm), a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of serious bacterial infections. Ertapenem works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, effectively killing susceptible bacteria. It is especially valuable in treating infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms and is commonly used in both inpatient and outpatient settings due to its once-daily dosing.

It helps in the treatment of moderate to severe infections such as complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired pneumonia, and pelvic infections, including post-surgical or gynecological infections.
