Methezen 0.125 Tablet contains Methylergometrine 0.125mg, a medication primarily used in obstetrics and gynecology. Methylergometrine is a derivative of ergot alkaloid and works by stimulating smooth muscle contraction in the uterus. This makes it an essential drug for controlling postpartum hemorrhage (excessive bleeding following childbirth). It is also effective in promoting the contraction of the uterus after delivery to help expel the placenta and reduce bleeding.
In addition to its role in postpartum care, Methylergometrine is also used to treat certain conditions related to uterine atony (a lack of muscle tone in the uterus), which can result in excessive bleeding. By increasing the strength and frequency of uterine contractions, it helps to minimize bleeding and ensures the safe recovery of the patient.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and high blood pressure. Prolonged use may cause uterine hypertonia.
Used for controlling postpartum hemorrhage and treating uterine atony.
Use only under medical supervision, especially in patients with hypertension or cardiovascular conditions. Not recommended during pregnancy unless prescribed by a doctor.
Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
