Lopexin Capsule contains Loperamide 2mg, an antidiarrheal agent that works by slowing down gut movement and increasing the absorption of fluids and electrolytes from the intestine. It binds to opioid receptors in the intestinal wall, reducing the frequency of bowel movements and making the stool less watery. Lopexin is fast-acting and effective for controlling both acute and chronic diarrhea, including traveler’s diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D), or diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
Lopexin is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience side effects such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, abdominal cramps, or dizziness. Serious side effects are rare but may include allergic reactions, severe abdominal pain, or bloating—medical attention should be sought if these occur.
Lopexin Capsules are indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute nonspecific diarrhea and chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel conditions. It is also useful in managing traveler’s diarrhea and to reduce the number of bowel movements in patients undergoing ileostomy. It helps in restoring normal stool consistency and provides relief from urgency and bowel discomfort.
Not recommended for use in children under 12 years without medical supervision. Avoid use in cases of bacterial enterocolitis or diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile. Use under medical guidance, especially in cases of liver dysfunction.
